In June 2024, I opened my 14-year-old KitchenAid dishwasher door, only to have it slam against my bare knee! One of the string-like "links", attached to the retainer spring (found along both sides of the bottom of the dishwasher), had broken in two places (a web search indicates that the average life of this link is about 12 years)! Searching the web, I couldn't believe the range of prices, with most averaging about $23. Imagine my relief when I found this part from EdgewaterParts.com for far less! I rcv'd it two business days after ordering online. Not willing to take a chance that the other side's link might break (no indication of it doing so), I changed both of them. There were no instructions with the part, but, using the still-good link as an example, it took all of about 3 minutes per link! I didn't bother changing the included cylindrical tensioners, as there was nothing wrong the existing ones.
